Here's the new ad created by Freedom Path, a secretive 501(c)(4) chaired by Nevada lobbyist Scott Bensing.
Here are a few problems I see with the ad:
- Senator Hatch supported several government takeovers of healthcare, including Medicare Part D and SCHIP.
- Senator Hatch supported an individual healthcare mandate. How can Hatch call the mandate unconstitutional with any credibility when he supported it himself?
- Senator Hatch's original bill to "repeal" Obamacare actually hurts the cause of those fighting for repeal because his bill only repeals one small portion of the healthcare law. (Senator Hatch later signed on to Senator Jim Demint's repeal bill.)
- The ad is right when it says to call Orrin in D.C. since that's the only place Utahns can find him lately. His "town hall" meetings this year have been more secretive and exclusive than a meeting of the Pentaverate.
